SoundMoves is looking for a Producer!
SoundMoves explores the possibilities of improvised conversation between dance and music practices from around the globe. We are a collective of artists with backgrounds in Jazz, Tap Dance, Khatak, Flamenco and Contemporary Urban dance styles coming together to share our improvisational practice and develop new ways to collaborate. Our work dramatises ideas and concepts through a mixture of choreography and improvisation to create theatrical performances with the excitement of a jam session and raw energy of a music gig.
To date, we have performed at Contact Theatre and Band on the Wall in Manchester, Attenborough Arts Centre in Leicester and Vortex Jazz Club in London as well as delivering a range of community outreach projects and education workshops. We have been funded by Arts Council Grants For The Arts twice for R&D and development of a full length performance which we now want to take on the road!
Take a look around our website to learn more about who we are and what we do!
We now want to collaborate with an experienced and committed freelance Producer that can help us generate income streams and performance opportunities to support a touring programme of activity in 2017.
We are looking for someone with experience of working with a range of performance venues including small-midscale theatres, live music venues, festivals and arts spaces. Ideally you will have experience of working with dance, live music and visual arts and have experience of booking and managing tours. However experience of all these areas is not essential.
Initially you will collaborate with the artistic director to shape a tour of music venues, small-mid scale theatre venues and arts spaces that will include performances alongside audience development and community outreach activities. This will form the basis of funding applications and commissions to support your continued employment on a freelance basis.
If this sounds like you then please email us with your CV and tell us why the project interests you and what you can bring to it (see website for further background about SoundMoves). We would love to have a conversation with you to learn more about your skills and experience and what kind of job description and way of working would suit you best. Following conversations we hope to have with interested candidates during December and January we want to appoint a Producer and begin working together by the end of January 2017.
Deadline for expressions of interest Friday 9th December 2016
Interviews to be arranged between 12th December 2016 – 13th January 2017
